I’m back from nursing a serious psoriasis flare (very serious)! When you have a skin ailment such as psoriasis, it seems anything and everything can set it off. If you have been following the blog you know that my mission has been to find the root cause of my flares, all from self-help of course. Self-help is the way I choose to go about it this time. Some say I am probably wasting my time, but I have been the dermatologist route and thus far it has been a waste of my time and money. Don’t get me wrong, doctors are great; I would just rather know what I am dealing with first, if at all possible, before I visit the doctor.
What I am concentrating on now……….
Food journaling is now among my daily lists of things to do. Why? I am trying to do an elimination diet to figure out what foods I might be sensitive to. I started out focusing on the Autoimmune protocol, and am now starting to lean towards a histamine intolerance. Either way, the elimination diet is the way to go when trying to find a food allergy or sensitivity. Let me just tell you that the elimination diet is waaaaaay hard for me guys!! My daily mantra is… I’ll start again tomorrow! Not good, but I’ll keep going (and adjusting my end date)! I can do without some things for thirty days, right!!
My recent concoction…………
Rash crème. The change in seasons always sets off my psoriasis and excema as well as my daughter’s. So I started mixing up this homemade rash cream that I first saw on http://wellnessmama.com. well I could not get my daughter to use it, so I just started messing around with my own recipe. Just two ingredients:
zinc oxide powder
I just play around with the ratio, more powder if you want it dry, or more coconut oil if you want it more moist, it works great. This can also be used as a sunscreen! The zinc oxide powder can be found at Amazon, and I just purchase the coconut oil at Walmart. Here is the zinc oxide powder that I use.
As always, take time to relax a spell! Talk to you next time!
