Hi guys, amidst the ‘new year, refresh my healthy eating habits’ we just had to have a birthday, with cake and everything! I did pretty well with the whole moderation thing! I am very proud of myself. How is everyone else faring with their improvements list for the new year?
Today is my husband’s birthday, he is a ripe old 40!!! He is aging very well I must say. Sorry no pictures. I would not want everyone to get enraged with jealousy. In all seriousness, for now I have decided not to include any images of my family, except for myself. So maybe later! Because it is his Birthday, I made him this Boston Cream Pie Cake……….
you can get the recipe at www.tiphero.com
I know, it is not a picture worthy cake. But it is actually the first time I have ever taken a picture of my cakes and of course this one had to be messed up. So now you know that I am human!! And not perfect!! This is just for the sole purpose of showing you the actual cake that I made for his birthday. If you like sweets as much as I do, there is no problem with a cake that doesn’t look perfect. Something else to add to my “improvements” list. Wow that’s getting to be a long list! No worries, it’s good to want to make yourself a better person, right!!
We haven’t tried the cake yet though. I swore that I would not cut into it since it is supposed to be special for him. I can’t say that my mouth was not watering for a taste when it was done!! But I resisted!
Something funny; my husband prefers store-bought sweets as I prefer to have them homemade.
In our household now, I am kinda ashamed to say that we indulge in too many store bought treats. I still enjoy the homemade items, but refrain from baking too many. Why? Because I am a great cook, that’s why!! I eat way too much of the stuff and if I have it at arms reach, I am going to eat it, and I mean all of it until it’s gone. That’s how I do things, but I am trying to work on that. It’s either all or nothin’ for me when it comes to the sweet stuff. Would you say that I had a problem with moderation???
Enough About Sweets, for this week anyway……….
So I wanted to tell you guys about a thought I had last week. My 11-year old daughter had just left for school and I had not started cleaning yet for the day. So as I was sitting in the recliner having my second cup of relaxation……coffee, I could see straight into the bathroom. I was looking at a very messy, cluttered bathroom sink counter. I don’t think you can really call it a counter though.
There is just no room for the stuff that we need to use on a regular basis. So a thought came to me that it would make sense to have all of her “get ready for school” items in one central place, and together so they would be easy to get out and put away. I did get her opinion before buying because I wanted to know if it was something that she would put into practice every morning. She said she would, so I was off to buy some caddies to go under the sink.
This what under the sink has looked like for a while, don’t know why I didn’t make it more efficient before now. But here is under the sink, after the caddies were put into place! Something she could take out every morning to get ready and it would be easy and quick to put away………yippee they have handles!
And then I thought it would be a great idea for all three of us, since we only have one bathroom. Unfortunately, my husband had to find room for his stuff elsewhere
I did find out that sometimes when organizing one area, you have to find homes in other areas for stuff. So you might just end up doing more work than you intended. I know I’ll have to find homes for some other necessities, so it’ll be a work in progress. I’ll keep you posted, just wanted you to see the can of worms I opened up with my “small” organizing idea. Cheers to you!
P.S Take time out………..and Relax a Spell!!
If you live in a small space and have any suggestions for me, I would love to hear them!
Leave a comment and I’ll get right back to you.
